POKE SURVIVOR / FIELD GUIDE
Poke Survivor Beginner's Guide
Make your first run a short learning session: pick one partner, learn its opening attack, then change one thing on the next attempt.
1. Start on the original project
Use our launch page or open pokesurvivor.com directly. Guest entry is useful for trying the controls, but the project says guests do not keep saved progress. If you want to build a collection across devices, use its own account flow in a normal tab. Do not enter your project password into a guide site.
The personality result is a suggested companion, not a test you must answer correctly. The starter flow offers a way to choose another partner. Read the opening move before confirming, because the practical difference is what you will use when the first enemies arrive.
2. Learn movement before chasing rewards
Begin by making a wide turn in open space. Observe where enemies gather and leave yourself a second direction to escape. Collecting something is not a good trade if it leaves you surrounded. When a run ends, identify the choice that closed your exit instead of assuming the partner was too weak.
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| WASD or arrow keys | Move your partner |
| 1–4 | Select the active move slot |
| Q / E | Cycle between move slots |
| Esc | Pause |
| Touch, landscape orientation | Drag to move; tap a move icon to select it |
3. Check which attack is active
Selecting an attack slot matters: learning an additional move does not by itself mean that every learned attack is firing together. Look at the highlighted slot before judging its range or effect. Practise switching while there is room to move, then return to the attack you understand if the experiment gets dangerous.
Project mechanics also include linked moves. Treat that as a later feature to read when it is offered, not a reason to ignore the active-slot system during the first minutes. A short controlled test is more useful than repeatedly selecting icons while surrounded.
4. Choose upgrades with a purpose
Before choosing a level-up card, name the problem you are solving. More reach is useful only if you can exploit that reach; more movement can help with an escape route but does not repair a habit of stopping inside a crowd. For an evolution, first inspect the exact combination in the move evolution guide.
Keep one comparison fair. Try the same partner again and change the upgrade priority rather than changing the partner, control device and every move at once. This gives you an understandable reason to keep or discard a build idea.
5. Separate coins, tickets and shinies
| Term | What to check |
|---|---|
| Coins / gold | Between-run upgrades are tied to the selected partner. Check whose upgrade panel is open before spending. |
| Tickets | The project uses earned tickets in its regional gacha. They unlock collection opportunities rather than directly replacing movement practice. |
| Shinies | A shiny is a Pokémon variant, not a currency. Do not treat “farm shinies” as a promise of a guaranteed drop or a separate paid ticket. |
Do not assume investments transfer between related forms. If you unlock a new Pokémon, inspect its own statistics and upgrade panel before replacing your current partner. No paid shortcut or redeem-code system is required by this guide.
A useful second-run checklist
- Choose the same partner and remember its active opening move.
- Use a clear escape route before approaching rewards.
- Choose one upgrade priority and note why.
- Pause to read an unfamiliar card.
- After the run, compare the cause of failure rather than only the final time.
When the controls feel comfortable, compare other initial partners or browse all 966 base-stat profiles. Neither list replaces checking what you have unlocked.

Before you play
Should I start as a guest?
Guest play is useful for a quick test. The project says guests do not retain saved progress; use an account on the original site if you want persistent cross-device progress.
Why are my other moves not firing?
Check the active move slot. Learning multiple moves is different from selecting one, and linked-move mechanics are a separate feature.
Are shinies a currency?
No. They are Pokémon variants. Coins and tickets have different progression roles.
Should I spend all coins immediately?
Check which partner an upgrade applies to first. Decide whether you intend to keep using that partner before committing your resources.
