03 / BEFORE THE FIRST INPUT
BO1 Zombies Browser Controls & Settings
Start with a desktop keyboard and mouse. The project’s own settings are the reference for gameplay bindings; browser focus is a separate step.
Start and mouse capture
After choosing a map and finishing the load, follow the Click to start prompt. The launcher requests pointer lock so mouse movement can control the game rather than stop at the edge of the screen. A real click is important: opening a link is not the same as granting mouse capture.
If the mouse still moves around the browser page, click inside the game again and read any permission message. Opening the project directly in its own tab avoids confusion between an embedded frame and the surrounding guide.
Escape and fullscreen
The project’s launcher describes Escape as opening the game pause menu. In fullscreen it can also request keyboard lock; when that is available, holding Escape exits fullscreen. Without that feature, the browser can release the mouse on Escape. The exact behavior therefore depends on the browser state.
Try releasing the pointer before changing tabs or using browser controls. Do not assume that a captured mouse means the page is frozen. Returning focus to the game and following its start prompt may be enough.
Movement, firing and remapping
Read the current in-game control screen before your first round. We have not verified a complete binding list in this browser build, so we do not publish console buttons or another Call of Duty version’s controls as if they were confirmed here. Check movement, aiming, firing, interaction and reload separately.
If a key appears not to work, check whether a menu, browser address bar or another tab has focus. Do not install a third-party extension simply because a comment says it enables a missing control. Controller and mobile support are not verified in this guide.
Graphics and slow input
Use a current desktop browser with working graphics acceleration. A slow scene can feel like ignored input even when the key binding is correct. Close duplicate game tabs, allow the initial loading step to finish, and compare again before changing control settings.
For a black screen, compatibility notice or stalled progress, use the loading guide. Preserve the exact error wording: a mouse-capture failure needs a different diagnosis from a failed file download.
Sources and checking boundaries
- Project map selector ↗
- Project menu source ↗ — map names and destinations.
- Project launcher source ↗ — startup and mouse capture.
Checked October 13, 2026: the project entry and ten-map menu are reachable. This is a source and entry check, not a completed playthrough of all ten maps. Status is a dated observation, not a live uptime guarantee.
Before you play
Why is my mouse not aiming?
The game may not have captured the pointer. Follow its start prompt, click inside the game and read any browser permission notice. Try the original project in its own tab.
Does Escape always do the same thing?
No. The project handles Escape for its menu, while the browser may use it to release pointer or fullscreen capture. Keyboard-lock support affects that behavior.
Are controller and phone controls verified?
No. This guide recommends a desktop keyboard and mouse and does not claim verified controller or touch support.
