BEFORE YOU CROSS

How to play the Fourth Wing fan game

01

Choose your beginning

Pick a name and a quadrant-inspired background. Riders begin with courage, Scribes with strategy, Healers with empathy and Infantry with instinct. Every candidate starts with six stamina.

02

Make the hard choices

Read each scene and choose your next move. Your item, allies and earlier decisions open different options. Some actions cost stamina; reach zero and you leave the trial safely. There is no timer.

03

Discover your bond

Reach the clearing and accept a partnership to meet one of four original dragons. Your strongest trait determines the bond; your background breaks a tie. Receive a fan-created signet and save your rider card.

A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE GOES A LONG WAY

How to survive the bonding trial

Pick an item with a purpose

The climbing cord opens a crossing to the ledge that costs no stamina. The field map unlocks a safe stairway into the ravine. Healing salve restores up to two stamina once, with a maximum of six. Use it before you reach zero; it cannot restart an exhausted trial.

Save strength for the clearing

You begin with six stamina. A running leap, a forceful sparring move and standing on the exposed ridge each cost two: choosing all three without recovering will end your trial early. Read the cost beneath each option. Helping Ren earlier can unlock a later choice that restores one stamina.

Build the bond you want

Your background gives its trait two starting points. Later choices build courage, strategy, empathy or instinct. At a completed bond, the highest trait selects your dragon. Your background trait wins if it shares the highest score; any remaining tie follows the order in the dragon guide below. A final demand for obedience ends without a bond.

FOUR POSSIBLE BONDS

Dragons and signets in our fan game

Your dragon and signet come from the choices you make during the trial. These four pairs were created for The Bonding Trial; they are not dragons, signets or assignments from the Fourth Wing books or the official Dragonkind game.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Fourth Wing fan game
questions.

More of a trivia person? Try Krillion →
Is this the official Fourth Wing game?

No. The Bonding Trial is an independent fan-made text adventure on Little Fun Games. The author’s Dragonkind game is at dragonkind.com. Our story, dragons, abilities, choices and results are original to this game and are not part of the books’ canon.

Can I play this Fourth Wing game online for free?

Yes. The full fan adventure is free to play in your browser, with no account or installation. Creating a character, trying every route, collecting all four dragon bonds and saving a rider card are included.

Is there a daily limit or retry cooldown?

No. Choose “Try another path” after a result to play again immediately. This is a replayable story with different choices and outcomes, not a new daily puzzle. Your discovered dragons stay in this browser’s collection when you start a new trial.

Do I need to read Fourth Wing first?

No. Everything you need to play is explained in the game. It uses the broad idea of a dragon-rider trial and quadrant-inspired backgrounds, with no book-plot spoilers, quoted scenes or canon-character cameos.

Is this a quiz or a role-playing game?

It is a short branching text adventure. There are no book-trivia answers to get right. Your decisions affect stamina, open routes and build four traits. The result follows those decisions rather than a random draw. Replay with another approach to discover the other dragons.

Can I play on mobile and come back later?

Yes. The game works in a modern phone or desktop browser. Your choices are saved after every turn when browser storage is available. Return on the same browser to continue. Clearing browser data removes progress; private browsing may not retain it.

Can I share my dragon and signet?

At the end of the trial, copy your result or download an illustrated rider card. Your name is included in that card and copied text, so use a nickname if you prefer. Nothing is posted automatically. These dragons and signets are fan-created results, not official assignments.
